In a joint partnership, Hospice Toronto, The Institute for Life Course & Aging at the University of Toronto, The National Initiative for the Care of the Elderly (NICE), and The Toronto Central Palliative Care Network cordially invite you to this insightful and informative sessionwhere you will learn about the national caregiving efforts in the United Kingdom and the development of the National Carer's Strategy, its associated legislation, guidance, and practice.

The session will be kicked off with an update on World Hospice Palliative Care Day activities and a brief snapshot of the status of hosipce palliative care worldwide by Christopher Klinger, Co-Chair of NICE's End-of-Life Theme Team.

Speaker Biographies

Jenny Frank

Programme Manager, The Children's Society Include Project

Jenny Frank is Programme Manager of The Children’s Society Include project, which is home to the National Young Carers Initiative.  She has worked for The Children’s Society in the field of young carers for over 15 years. She is the author of a number of publications and  has been instrumental in raising awareness of the needs of young carers and their families and campaigning for their needs to be interagency and inter departmental responsibility at a National level in England.  Her work and that of The Children’s Society’s is based on enabling young carers to be consulted and to support them in enabling their views and wishes to influence change in policy and service delivery. Jenny is a member of The UK Government Standing Commission for Carers and was awarded an MBE for service to young carers in the 2009 New Years Honours list .
